Azerbaijan, Baku, June 24 / Trend H.Valiyev /

The Azerbaijani primary provider Delta Telecom's network infrastructure was transferred to the IPv6 protocol, DeltaTelecom CEO Ramazan Valiyev told Trend.

Valiyev said the company has already moved to a new record with the largest number of Tier1-operators. The transition to the new protocol plays an important role in
alleviating the shortage of IP addresses.

Delta Telecom, he said, purchased 4.2 billion IP-addresses.

The acquisition is linked with the company's growing role.

Its infrastructure is engaged in providing Internet services to regional countries, particularly, bringing Internet services to Iran and Iraq.

"The transition to the new protocol will directly affect the end users that lack the IP-addresses to create websites and other resources and content. This will allow to provide users with not one, but several IP addresses," he added.
