In Ashgabat, took place the ceremony of signing the contract between the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan and the French Thales Alenia Space to design, build and display space in the first Turkmenistan national satellite, said on Saturday the Turkmen government.

The same Ministry has entered into another contract with Space Systems International -Monaco SAM - for hire orbital point.

To participate in the ceremony of signing bilateral documents, senior vice president of worldwide sales Thales Alenia Space, Eric Imbert, president and CEO of Space Systems International-Monaco SAM Ilhami Aygun arrived in the Turkmen capital.

The contracts were signed in accordance with the Resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The document states that it will "implement the objectives of the project to create its own national satellite of independent neutral Turkmenistan as well as increased use of high world of innovative technologies to further increase the pace of industrial development."

According to the contract, it's about the withdrawal of national satellite systems and ground control in outer space, putting into action, promoting them around the clock management at the highest level for 15 years and training of highly qualified professionals.

Commencement of works is planned for December 2011 completion - for August 2014.
