Azerbaijan, Baku, April 23 / Trend H. Valiyev /

Azerbaijan has prepared the National Strategy for Intellectual Property, head of the Azerbaijani Copyright Agency Kamran Imanov told media today.

He said the strategy will be submitted to the government's consideration in the near future.

The strategy has been prepared as a result of joint work between the Agency for Copyright and the State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents.

Earlier, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) stressed the importance of accelerating the work to adopt a national strategy on intellectual property.

Imanov previously said that after making the additions and changes, the document can be adopted in the near future.

The strategy addresses problems in intellectual property and methods of combating the production and sale of counterfeit products.

Azerbaijan may become one of the first countries in the world where a long-term national strategy for intellectual property will be adopted.

He added that the strategy must also reflect such a direction as industrial property.
