Public telecommunications operators in Azerbaijan are no longer considering the possibility of participation in resumption of work of the CDMA operator, CATEL due to the difficult financial situation of the company, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov told Trend on Tuesday.

He noted that work on resumption of CATEL continues, but without the participation of the state operators of communication.

"We have offered private companies to take part in the renewal of the CATEL and currently a number have expressed an interest. If an agreement is reached, CATEL will be able to resume work after the decision of legal questions," Abbasov said.

CATEL has recorded problems since April 1, leading to the shutdown of a network of subscribers operating in the CDMA standard (with index numbers 417, 418 and 415, as well as the number of mobile network Fonex, starting with the zoning code 040).

The total number of CATEL subscribers is about 70,000, of which about 60,000 are subscribers of wireless communication standard CDMA.

Earlier, the management of CATEL negotiated with state operators Aztelekom and Baktelekom to resume the work.
