Azerbaijan, Baku, August 26/Trend, H.Valiyev/

Work on preparing a project to launch a Low Earth Orbiting satellite by Azerbaijan is completed, Azerbaijani Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov told journalists on Friday.

"It is planned to announce a tender for construction of the Low Earth Orbiting satellite in Azerbaijan in the near future," the Minister said.

The results of the first tender were previously cancelled.

The reason for the cancellation was on account of the tender having higher requirements to the satellite's technical settings, Azerkosmos JSC told Trend.

According to the JSC plan, the launch of the earth sensor satellite is planned for 2015.
JSC conducted research on the issue of using the benefits of Low Earth Orbiting satellites in domestic and foreign markets.

The Azerbaijani satellite operator is preparing a business plan on the possibilities of using space radar and optic images both in Azerbaijan and in the region's markets.

Azerkosmos JSC regularly holds negotiations with the bodies who can become potential buyers of the satellite's images. The negotiations have an informative character and are designed to create favourable groundwork for future cooperation.

Currently, JSC carries out work on the creation of a universal ground station which will also be used for receiving satellite images from other satellites flying over this region.

Work in this direction is planned to be completed by the end of the year.
