A mobile number portability (MNP) service is expected to be launched for the networks of Azerbaijani mobile operators in January 2014, Azercell director general Kirill Gaburich told the media on Dec. 2.
"The company is technically ready to launch the service," he said. "The project involves a lot of organisations. So, its launching depends on the willingness of all parties."
MNP service implementation will allow mobile communication subscribers to save their phone number if they change carriers. The number transfer envisages a subscriber's transition from one carrier to another with the providers prefix (050, 051, 055, 070 and 077).
