By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

Azerbaijan's transition to the virtual content payment system in the field of intellectual property depends on the preparedness of information systems, head of the State Copyright Agency of Azerbaijan, Kamran Imanov told journalists.

He said that, the matter rests in management of intellectual property rights on the basis of online licensing and protection of intellectual property rights on the internet.

"There are several models of placement of intellectual property products on the Internet. On one hand, the rightholders may prohibit placement of their intellectual labour in the virtual environment, and on the other hand the free use of intellectual labour in random mode is provided," Imanov said. "Finally, the third model involves placing production of intellectual property on the internet, but the person who puts it on the internet must pay to the rightholder. We are more loyal to the introduction of the third model".

The agency's head said that today more than 50 percent of content on the internet is the intellectual property. Currently, four out of five online stores are protected by intellectual property rights, he said.
