By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:

Azerbaijan`s backbone operator Delta Telecom does not consider any possibility of resuming LTE network development project, the company told Trend.

This project was suspended. It is not a matter of paramount importance and does not stand on the agenda, the company said.

“Our efforts now are directed to the implementation of more significant projects,” the company added.

Delta Telecom signed an agreement worth $24.6 million with Alcatel Lucent Teletash on purchase of LTE equipment in December 2015. However, the contract could come into effect after an advance payment in the amount of 30 percent from total worth till March 15, 2016. The terms of the payment were postponed twice – first until June 15 and then until September 15, 2016. The contract had been cancelled as prepayment was not transferred.

Delta Telecom reported in October 2016, that the project was frozen and the rate of national currency affected this process in a certain way.
