The Azerbaijani television market is not yet ready to use 4K Ultra HD content, RA Technologies company (RATV) told Trend.

The main reason is that TVs supporting 4K are more expensive, the company said.

"On the other hand, 4K did not actually make such a fuss as it was with HD or 3D standards,” the company said. “The consumer segment is not yet ready for the new technology due to the high cost of the equipment. However, sooner or later 4K will develop in the country."

The resolution of Ultra HD is four times more than that of Full HD standard. Full HD consists of two million pixels, while Ultra HD - more than eight million pixels.

The Teleradio production association is ready to ensure broadcasting in 4K standard through its infrastructure.

Presently, local TV channels are passing to the HD standard. Among such channels are CBC-Sport, AzTV Idman and ATV.
