RA Technologies (RATV) is switching to High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), also known as H.265 compression standard, the company told Trend.

The company said that the main improvement of H.265 coding as compared to its predecessor H.264, is a stronger compression ratio.

“The transition to a new standard is expected to take place in spring 2018. Today, many network device manufacturers support the H.265 standard,” said the company. “The advantage of H.265 coding, in contrast to H.264, is that the information transfer rate improves by 30 percent without losing quality.”

The platform, which helps to save channel resources, can play an important role in the distribution of both mobile video and Ultra HD content.

The potential of H.265 coding can bring additional benefits to providers of multi-service networks.

One of the innovations of the RATV platform is the availability of "personal cabinet", through which subscribers can control subscriptions, download programs for their devices (TVs, tablets, smartphones) and others.
