Uzbekistan and Russia to create joint TV channel

Uzbekistan and the Channel One Russia will create a joint TV channel within the framework of expanding bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Russia in the media communication sphere, Uzbek media reported on April 16 citing the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan.

The corresponding discussion was held at the meeting of the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan Azim Akhmedkhadzhayev with Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Alexei Volin.

Representatives of the Russian President's Administration, VGTRK, Russia Today, Channel One and Russia-24 also took part in the discussion. The participants discussed the development of digital TV, technology parks, digital economy, training of specialists in the information and telecommunications sphere.

The Russian delegation acquainted the Uzbek counterparts with the transition to digital TV broadcasting in Russia and offered solutions of Russian platforms for the organization of mobile television.

The parties discussed creating a joint channel with the Channel One Russia, attracting Russian filmmakers for the creation of documentaries and programs about outstanding Uzbek figures, the contribution of Uzbek scientists to the development of world civilization.

The parties also agreed to organize special forums and seminars on a regular basis for the press services of state bodies and expressed their readiness to assist each other in increasing the proficiency of specialists.
