At the end of January-July 2018, more than 3.3 million shipments weighing over 275,000 kilograms have been processed and sent to 15 countries at the transit center of Azerpoct LLC company, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan told Trend.

The postal operator has carried out delivery of those shipments to the US, Germany, Austria, Belarus, Great Britain, Czech Republic, France, Iran, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine, the ministry stated.

"In addition, according to the contract concluded between the Express Mail Service (EMS service) of Azerpoct LLC company and the Estonian Post Ltd. company, the EMS shipments from the USA and Germany to Azerbaijan are sent to Russia. In order to expand the activities of the Azerbaijani postal service, the negotiations are held within the project with the express postal services of China, South Korea and Singapore and the transit through Azerbaijan of the large-size goods purchased on electronic trading platforms is expected in the near future," the ministry said.

The favorable geographical position of Azerbaijan, the formation of regional and international transport corridors in the country and the transformation of the country into a major transit and logistics center create new opportunities for the postal service of the country in the delivery of e-commerce products. Azerbaijan's postal service has been playing the role of the regional transit postal centre (HUB) in the e-commerce industry for the last two years.

The postal items delivered to the country were ordered on the electronic trading platforms of China. Azerpoct is engaged in their processing and sending to other countries. To this end, Azerpoct cooperates with Silk Way airline company, which has extensive capabilities in the field of air transportation.
