Azerbaijan establishes close ties with NASA structures
Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 8
By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:
Azerbaijan has established close scientific ties with the structures of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and intends to further strengthen these ties, Elchin Babayev, executive director of the Science Development Fund under the president of Azerbaijan, told reporters in Baku on Oct. 8.
“For these purposes, the scientific potential of young personnel is planned to be used,” Babayev said. “The participation of young personnel in high-level trainings is one of the priorities.”
"This will allow them to continue their research at the international level,” he said. “A School on Space Weather (SW) of the International Space Weather Initiative (ISWI) can serve as a springboard for that. At this school, young professionals will be able to establish close ties, which contributes to the development of intercultural dialogue and the scientific potential of the country."
“Presently, there are problems in the field of global navigation and satellite systems,” Babayev added. “In particular, over the past 10 years, scientists have been actively studying the effects of solar and geomagnetic activity on biological and technological systems.”
"Today, Azerbaijan is a member of the space club,” he said. “The School on Space Weather is of particular importance to us as the country uses various satellites for peaceful purposes. One of the important areas of SW is to train personnel. From Azerbaijan, specialists from the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory, Azercosmos, the National Aviation Academy and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies are trained at the School on Space Weather.”
