Azerbaijan's state communication operator Aztelekom LLC is preparing for a full transfer of its network to DWDM technology (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing), the company told Trend.

"Presently, the delivery of necessary equipment is expected, after which the planned work on its installation, configuration and integration will begin," the company said.

"A full transition to the DWDM network will be implemented according to the results of the final testing scheduled for late 2019," the company added.

The modernization of the operator’s network provides for the transfer from SDH technology to DWDM, which will ensure high-quality transmission of IP traffic to all settlements, including remote villages.

Switching to DWDM will provide corporate customers and individual subscribers with a wider bandwidth capable of meeting current and future demand for data transmission.

In addition, as previously reported, this transition will speed up the information exchange between government agencies and ensure sustainable public access to electronic services.
