Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 26
By Huseyn Veliyev – Trend:
The large supermarkets in Baku may be equipped with SMART boxes for remote orders, a source in the IT market of Azerbaijan told Trend.
The source said this refers to the launch of the online service for ordering of goods using a special mobile application.
"This application will contain the entire list of products presented in a supermarket. Using the software, a consumer will be able to select the goods he needs and pay for them. After that, the order will enter the supermarket’s internal system and an employee of the system integrator company will select the ordered products and place them in the SMART box," the source said.
Then, the source said, a notification with a barcode will be sent to the user's mobile phone, by means of which he will be able to open the SMART-box and pick up the purchase.
"The SMART boxes are to be installed in such a way that customers could pick up their orders at any convenient time without going inside the supermarket. However, if perishable products are included in the order list, in such case the buyer will be sent a notification. This innovation is primarily aimed at user convenience and at reducing the queue at the supermarket’s cash desks. The service will be chargeable and will cost the customer 0.50 manats regardless of the amount of the order. At present, an agreement has been reached with the investor on implementation of the project in one of the major supermarkets of the capital," the source said.
