Representatives of the World Bank and South Korea’s KT (Korea Telecom) Corporation offered Uzbekistan to cooperate in improving the transport system in Tashkent, the press service of the Tashkent City Administration said in a statement.
At a meeting with transport experts of the World Bank, a grant for a pre-project survey of the transport network and joint study of innovative methods for obtaining and processing data about passenger mobility were discussed.
In turn, the South Korean corporation proposed to introduce an automated payment system in public transport in Tashkent that will allow passengers not to use cash when traveling in buses, subway or taxi.
Representatives of the KT Corporation noted that they implemented this system in almost all cities of South Korea.
As part of the project, they are also ready to provide Tashkent with points of sale of payment cards for public transport, create points for topping up the balance, as well as data processing centers.
