Azercell: Voice services to lose popularity in future

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 27

By Huseyn Veliyev – Trend:

The voice services provided by mobile operators will lose their relevance even more in the future, President of Azercell Telecom LLC Vahid Mursaliyev told reporters Oct. 27.

He noted that the greatest need will be for the data transmission services that are developing today and will develop in the future.

"The popularity of the SMS service also decreasing. This is happening against the backdrop of growth of popularity of instant messengers and social networks. We think the user audience of this service will decrease even more. We do not intend to withdraw it from our portfolio in the near future, but only time will tell."

"Technologies are developing so fast that it is not possible to predict much in advance. Our telecommunications infrastructure does not lag behind world trends, and often, even in many cases, gets ahead of them," Mursaliyev said.

Azercell Telecom LLC was founded in 1996. The company's share in the country's mobile communication market is 48 percent. The Azercell network covers 80 percent of the country's territory and 99.8 percent of the country’s population. Currently, 4.5 million subscribers use services of Azercell.
