Azerbaijan’s Portmanat payment system will connect the Masterpass wallet to its mobile application, the company told Trend.

Masterpass is an e-wallet which makes it possible to store payment cards of both the MasterCard system and Visa. When making a purchase in an online store or an application supporting Masterpass, it is enough to select a card and confirm the payment with a password. At the same time, there is no need to enter card information each time (full number, expiration date and CVC/CVV2).

“Technically, we are ready to launch this service,” the company said. “However, there are certain issues related to legal regulation, which, as far as we know, will be resolved by the end of this year, and after that, Portmanat users will be able to use this option.”

It will be possible to make payment via the Portmanat system through QR codes. This function is already present in the test version of the application.

For making QR payments, two options are considered (using a dynamic or static QR code).

The method of payment by using a static QR code provides for payment by scanning the code printed at the checkout. It is enough for the buyer to bring the phone camera to the QR code and payment will be made after the buyer enters the necessary amount.

Unlike a static QR code, a dynamic one is generated each time with a payment amount. The code is also scanned at the checkout. In this case, a buyer doesn’t need to enter the amount, since it is automatically deducted from the client card integrated in the application or from the Portmanat account. Initially, the company intends to launch a static payment method, and then switch to a dynamic one.
