Azerbaijani state telecom operator sets date for IPTV launch

Aztelekom LLC, the state telecommunications operator of Azerbaijan, is preparing to launch IPTV services, the company told Trend on Jan. 9.

The company noted that work to create an infrastructure for provision of the IPTV services has already been completed and the commercial launch is expected in 1H2019.

"Presently, work is underway to prepare a final product, which will be tested in several districts of the country. Depending on the tests, it will be known whether the service will be available in all districts or not."

"As for tariffs, they will be competitive and meet user requirements," the company said.

As previously reported, the provision of the IPTV services was licensed in January 2016.

The licensing of the IPTV services is regulated by the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Azerbaijan.

The validity period of the license for provision of the IPTV services is six years.
