Iranian parliament may impose sanctions against iPhone

A group of Iranian MPs has introduced a draft bill for imposing sanctions against Apple, an American technology company, a member of Parliament Ahmad Amir Abadi said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to the draft bill, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology is required to refuse registration of mobile phones produced by Apple and to provide any services to this company’s cell phones. It also places the responsibility for implementing this law on the Minister.

“Import of the products of this company is prohibited and the Customs Administration of Iran is responsible for the implementation of this provision,” the draft bill says. According to the bill, advertising of products of Apple is prohibited in the country, while the Minister of Culture is required to monitor this issue. In addition, the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade shall refuse to register the order of the company's products and has to ban it.

According to the draft bill, the Central Bank of Islamic Republic of Iran should refuse to allocate any currency at any rate for the import of Apple products. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Islamic Republic of Iran is required to appeal to allies and neighboring countries to join this sanctions.

The bill prohibits official authorities to use the Apple products.
