Iran, Azerbaijan to cooperate in supporting startups

Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced that Iran and Azerbaijan will develop cooperation in the field of startups.

The Press Conference of communications technology authorities of Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkey is being held after their meeting in Tehran on July 17, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Touching upon expanding economic cooperation in the field of communications and information technology, creating a stronger region and confronting unilateralism, Iranian ICT Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said: "For a year, we, the ministers, are pursuing the goal of creation of a digital common market as an important part of the future business based on digital commerce. We aim to gain our share in this market.”

"Our first meeting in Azerbaijan was aimed to create a stronger market against unilateral approach, so we are looking forward to create a ​​regional ICT network," he added.

“The next steps include work on developing cooperation in operating system, space and digital science,” said Jahromi.

"Creating an IT infrastructure is one of our priorities, and a joint working group is set up to pursue the goals,” the Iran's Minister for Communications and Information Technology added.

He went on to say that high-level delegations from various countries and international organizations will attend International Elecomp Exhibition to be held in Tehran on July 18-21, 2019.

“From now onward, our communications with Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey will no longer be linked to Europe; they are to be direct, faster and of better quality,” he said.

Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia Konstantin Noskov stated: “We discussed issues related to the exchange of economic delegations and organization of eight exhibitions, and we hope to talk about future economic facilities."

Chairman of Information and Communication Technologies Authority of Turkey Omer Abdullah Karagozoğlu said: “We are ready to expand cooperation between our countries, create necessary infrastructure and take next steps."

Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramin Guluzade said: "We are working together in the field of startups, and in the future we will cooperate in other fields in addition to the digital sector."

The quadrilateral high-rank meeting of the heads of the governmental bodies of communications technology of Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkey was held at the Ministry of Communications in Iran capital, Tehran, on July 17th.
