By Nargiz Ismayilova – Trend:

Azercosmos offered satellite services in developing Asian and African regions along with the Caucasus, Europe and the Middle East through satellite-based observation of the Earth’s surface this year, the company told Trend.

“The work will be carried out both in the local and foreign markets in 2020. The satellite capabilities in both telecommunications and ground-based surveillance will be used," said the company.

The work will be continued in 2020 to resolve the issues arising from the Azerbaijani president’s decree on the approval of the "State Program for the Development of Remote Monitoring Services over the Earth's Surface via Satellite in Azerbaijan for 2019-2022".

Moreover, Azercosmos plans to hold CanSat Azerbaijan national student model satellite competition in 2020.

Azercosmos together with the Ministry of Education has been annually holding the CanSat Azerbaijan competition since 2018.

"During the elections to the General Assembly of the International Astronautical Federation, held on October 21-25 in the capital of the US - Washington, Baku was entitled to host the International Astronautical Congress in 2022,” the company said.

“The preparatory process of the International Astronautical Congress, to be held in 2022, has been already launched,” the company said. “The initial planning is underway in connection with this event and the process will continue next year.”

“The International Astronautical Federation will conduct an active campaign within international events in 2020, such as symposia, seminars and conferences,” the company said.
