Uzbekistan to attract investments in development of information technologies

Uzbekistan intends to attract over $676.8 million of foreign investment in the development of information technologies and communications in the period from 2020 through 2022, Trend reports with reference to Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan.

In 2020, the total amount of attracted investments will amount to $178.7 million, including $139.2 million of direct foreign investments and $37.5 million of foreign loans under state guarantee.

In 2021, this indicator will increase to $241.7 million, of which direct foreign investments will amount to $171.9 million, and foreign loans under the state guarantee - $67.7 million.

“The figures will increase in 2022. In that period, the total amount of investments will reach $256.4 million, including $180.1 million of direct foreign investments and $73.1 million of foreign loans under the state guarantee,” the message said.

A total of 35 priority projects worth 17.6 trillion soum ($1.7 billion) are envisaged to be implemented within the framework of development of digital economy and e-government in Uzbeksitan. Of these, the planned volume of attracted direct foreign investments and unsecured loans is 44.8 percent, and of loans under state guarantees - 33 percent.
