Uzbekistan establishes new innovative technopark in Tashkent city

Uzbekistan to allocate $47.5 million to implement projects of the newly established Yashnabad Innovation Technopark, Trend reports citing the Government Portal of Uzbekistan.

This was announced during an event on the development of innovative technologies in Uzbekistan, organized by the Committee on Innovation Development, Information Policy, and Information Technology of the Legislative Chamber of the Parliament (Oliy Majlis) in cooperation with the Ministry of Innovative Development on August 27, 2020.

At the event, the rapid pace of evolution of the sphere of innovative development was especially noted.

"Innovative development is one of the main directions of structural and economic reforms in Uzbekistan. In this regard, the Strategy of innovative development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period from 2019 through 2021 was adopted," the report says.

The main goal of the strategy is the development of human capital in Uzbekistan and by 2030 entering the top 50 best countries in the world according to the Global Innovation Index rating.

“Yashnabad Innovation Technopark is organized to create favorable conditions for the development of high technologies, sustainable development of science, technology and innovative entrepreneurship, the creation of small innovative enterprises. It was noted that this project is aimed at launching production and supplying competitive high-tech products to domestic, and foreign markets,” the message said.

To date, 32 projects have received resident status at Yashnabad Innovation Technopark. These projects are mainly in the areas of chemical technologies, biotechnologies, pharmaceutical and medical biotechnologies, plant protection products, agriculture, construction materials, and information and communication technologies.

It is planned to raise $31.9 million of its own funds and $15.6 million of credit funds for implementing innovative projects.

The participants of the event reached an agreement on the further intensification of joint activities to implement priorities in the field of innovation development.

At the end of the event, the plan of joint work of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber and the Ministry of Innovative Development to ensure the implementation of the most important tasks defined in the sphere was approved.
