BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 21

By Zeyni Jafarov - Trend:

Baku Telephone Communications LLC (Baktelecom) will allocate about 12 million manat (over $7 million) for work on the installation of telephones in apartments based on Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology, installation of base stations for the introduction of Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and on network expansion, Trend reports citing the E-Gov Development Center of Azerbaijan.

According to the center, a contract has been signed with Azinvest Insaat LLC to execute the indicated work and the cost of the contract is 11.7 million manat ($6.8 million).

The GPON technology, provided with fiber-optic lines, has such advantages as speeding up to 100 Mbps, uninterrupted internet connection and absence of telephone lines.

Baktelecom provides services of uninterrupted telephone communication, radio communication, broadband internet and other types of modern telecommunication services in Baku city to the state and governing bodies, enterprises and organizations, foreign legal entities and their representative offices, as well as the population.
