Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 3

By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

In the Azerbaijani domain zone, one successful phishing attack accounted for 110 websites registered in the .az domain in Sept. 2020, Trend reports referring to Netcraft analytical company.

The successful phishing attacks accounted for 0.3 percent of total attacks.

Netcraft said that a total of 330 Azerbaijani websites became victims of phishing attacks during the reporting month, which is 10.8 percent less than in Aug. 2020.

To date, over 36,300 websites are registered in .az domain.

Netcraft reports that one successful phishing attack accounted for 281 websites in Ukraine, 195 websites in Russia, 946 websites in Belarus, 969 websites in Kazakhstan and 537 websites in Uzbekistan.

A phishing attack is carried out by means of mass mailing of emails on behalf of popular brands. The letter often contains a direct link to a false website of the brand, which is not visually different from the original one. Users may enter valuable information on such fake websites, allowing scammers access to their web or bank accounts.
