Uzbek regions to undergo digital transformation by the end of 1Q2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 7

Over 400 information systems, electronic services, and other software products will be introduced in 2020-2022 in various areas of socio-economic development of Uzbekistan’s regions, Trend reports citing Norma legal and information portal.

As part of digital transformation programs for regions and industries in 2020-2022, Uzbekistan is expected to increase from 78 percent to 95 percent the level of connection of settlements to the Internet, including by increasing to 2.5 million broadband access ports, laying 20,000 km of optical-fiber communication lines and development of mobile communication networks.

In addition, over 400 information systems, electronic services, and other software products in various areas of socio-economic development of regions will be introduced, as well as over 280 information systems and software products for automating management, production, and logistics processes at enterprises in the real sector of the economy.

Some 29 exemplary districts (cities) will be the first to undergo digital transformation in 2020 and by the end of 1Q2021.

By the end of 2020, it is planned to complete the digitalization of preschool education institutions, healthcare, and secondary schools. They will be provided with the necessary IT infrastructure, computer equipment, information systems will be introduced, and employees will be sent to training in 13 exemplary districts

From November 1, 2020, at least 5 percent of the total funds of investment projects, as well as of international financial institutions, foreign government financial organizations, and donor countries, will be directed to digital components.

An electronic platform of domestic software products and IT services will also be created, which, from January 1, 2021, will allow the formation of a unified database of domestic IT companies and developers of software products, their products, and services, and assist them in promoting their products in the domestic and foreign markets.
