Georgia increases import of mobile phones

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 16

Georgia purchased mobile phones worth $114.5 million or 370 million lari from January through September 2020, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

According to Geostat, the figure is 15.9 percent less comparing to the same period of 2019.

Georgia buys most of its smartphones from one of the global wholesale centers - the United Arab Emirates. Hong Kong also takes a leading position in import statistics.

Import of mobile phones in Georgia by countries:

1) United Arab Emirates - $49.5 million;
2) Russia - $20.9 million;
3) Hong Kong - $15.2 million;
4) Czech Republic - $9.8 million;
5) China - $4.6 million;
6) Netherlands - $4.15 million;
7) Cyprus - $2.3 million;
8) US - $1.1 million;
9) Lietuva - $1.1 million;
10) Switzerland - $1 million.
