By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Russa’s Rostelecom long-distance telephony provider wants to increase cooperation with Turkmenistan, Rostelecom told Trend.

"There are many opportunities for cooperation: inter-operator cooperation, both with Turkmenistan itself and with neighboring countries thanks to Turkmenistan, as well as delivery of Russian content to Turkmenistan, for which demand is also growing," the company said.

The report also noted that the above-mentioned and other areas are currently being worked out.

"We work in close partnership with Turkmenistan. We are constantly searching for and developing new areas of cooperation, " the message reads.

At the same time, the company also adds that cooperation continues, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

"When air traffic resumes, we will be happy to meet our colleagues either in the capitals of the two states or in other places. We hope that our meeting will take place in the second half of 2021," the company said.

As it was reported earlier, Russa’s Rostelecom expects joint development of transit routes through the territory of Turkmenistan.

The Russian operator has been cooperating with Turkmenistan’s Turkmentelecom telecommunications company since 2006 when an agreement was signed with the Center for International Settlements and Contracts of Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Communications.

Earlier, the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan and Rostelecom signed an agreement on providing communication services. Under the agreement, Rostelecom gives Turkmenistan access to international dedicated digital communication channels.
