Kaspersky Lab talks about most popular security solutions in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 8

By Sadraddin Aghjayev – Trend:

The entire line of products of "Kaspersky Lab" is available in Azerbaijan, Mushvig Mammadov, official representative of "Kaspersky Lab" in Azerbaijan, told Trend.

“The solutions for protecting end devices, preventing and responding to complex threats are in great demand in Azerbaijan,” Mammadov added.

"We hope to develop in the field of cybersecurity for big companies and offer not only endpoint products, but also our services,” representative of "Kaspersky Lab" in Azerbaijan said. “This year, the company has also actively developed the projects from our incubator, for example, the Kaspersky Antidrone system and the Polys blockchain voting solution. If the companies in Azerbaijan are interested in these solutions, we will be glad to start working in this sphere."

Mammadov stressed that the company is ready to take an active part in Azerbaijan's Smart City project.

"The concept of a "smart city" itself is very interesting and useful,” representative of "Kaspersky Lab" in Azerbaijan said. “Kaspersky Lab has a team of experts who are actively studying such technologies, rendering consultancy services. Their experience shows that potentially technologies can contain errors and vulnerabilities, both software and architectural. It is important to consider this to avoid various threats.”

“If we talk about international experience, then this team conducted research on the safety of some touch-screen terminals, speed cameras, road sensors and other elements that relate to the infrastructure of a smart city,” Mammadov said.

“The results were not encouraging,” representative of "Kaspersky Lab" in Azerbaijan said. “A potential malefactor with average technical knowledge can detect a loophole to make "changes" to the operation of elements of a smart city, change data and do other illegitimate actions.”

“These technologies have been introduced recently in Azerbaijan, so it is important to take into account the experience of other countries,” Mammadov said. “It is necessary to remember about cybersecurity at the very beginning of the development of the concept of a "smart city". There are approaches and technologies today that help build immune systems. Cyber protection must be so reliable that it would be simply inappropriate for hackers to hack into it.”

While speaking about the protection of Azerbaijani energy projects, Mammadov noted that participation in such projects is not disclosed due to security.

“Our company has a portfolio of solutions for such projects beginning from protecting end devices and services and ending with providing analytics on the current cyber threats in this sphere,” representative of "Kaspersky Lab" in Azerbaijan said.

“Ensuring the cybersecurity of such projects is very important,” Mammadov said. “Kaspersky ICS CERT experts have recently published the study on cyber attacks on Automated Process Control Systems in the energy sector in Europe at the beginning of the year. The malicious objects were detected on every fifth computer in the energy sector in the first half of the year.”

“A total of 1,485 modifications of malicious software from 633 different families, including various multifunctional spyware (4.4 percent) designed to steal authentication data and allow attackers to remotely control infected computers in automatic and manual modes, as well as malicious Ransomware (1 percent) and exploit for popular office suites (3.4 percent) embedded in documents distributed through phishing emails and used to deploy spyware and ransomware - threats that pose a particular threat and can negatively affect availability and integrity of systems and networks of the automated process control system were blocked," Mammadov said.

Mammadov said that the analysis of cyber threats in Azerbaijan for 2020 will be carried out in early 2021.

“The vast majority of threats have remained unchanged throughout the year, namely, phishing attacks, attacks by banking Trojans, ransomware, adware and other malware,” representative of "Kaspersky Lab" in Azerbaijan said.
