Sales of SIM-cards with ‘SmartCell’ (Face ID) face recognition technology will start in Azerbaijan, the Data Processing Center (DPC) under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan told Trend.
The data center noted that SmartCell is a mobile solution that combines face recognition technology and an electronic signature.
"This technology can be applied to remotely execute online transactions, conclude contracts in both the public and private sectors,” said the DPC.
This system will allow in real time, in the presence of the client, to identify the received photo with the photo in the identity card, as well as sign the contract using an electronic signature, the DPC said.
“By using this technology, it is possible to make video recording of the process. The ‘SmartCell’ SIM card sales system has many advantages for both operators and clients,” the center said.
“The process of issuing the e-signature certificate by the National Certification Services Center when purchasing a SIM card is very simple. First, using a mobile application, identification (recognition for compliance) of a face from a photo is carried out using a photo from ID card. Based on this, a certificate registration request is drawn up, which is sent to the appropriate infrastructure of the Certification Services Center. The certificate issued by the center is accepted by the application and can be immediately used to sign documents,” the DPC noted.
