Azerbaijan expanding digital approach to tax administration

The Digital Transformation Council will expand the digital approach to tax administration in Azerbaijan, Sarkhan Hashimov, Chairman of the Digital Transformation Council, Advisor to the Head of the State Tax Service, told Trend.

"The State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy, which is an important component of the digital government, is actively involved in the process of digital transformation in the country," Hashimov added.

"The need to create the Digital Transformation Council in the State Tax Service has been stipulated by the need to further expand the digital approaches and solutions which are used in tax administration, the most efficient use of the resources available for this purpose," Hashimov said.

The chairman emphasized that the main goal of the Council is to transform the existing and rather successfully functioning e-tax administration into the digital Tax Administration.

"For this purpose, digital projects are being implemented on the initiative and under the direct control of the leadership of the Ministry of Economy and the State Tax Service in various spheres of tax administration," the chairman added.

"To coordinate the management of these projects and the effective use of available resources in this sphere, a decision was made to create the Digital Transformation Council upon the order of the head of the State Tax Service in January 2021," Hashimov said.
