BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr. 19

Azerbaijan’s Azeronline internet provider plans to start rendering optical internet services using modern GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) technology in Baku, Absheron district, as well as regions of the country, including remote areas in 2021, the company’s press office told Trend on Apr.19.
According to the press office, the company is also expanding its wireless internet network.
"In territories where it’s not possible to deploy an optical internet network, services to the population will be provided through a wireless connection," the press office added.
The press office noted the unprecedented demand for internet services among the population of Azerbaijan during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the transfer of educational institutions to the online education system.
“In order to support our subscribers, we have increased the speed of data transmission on some tariff plans, which has made the terms of service provision more flexible,” the press office said. “Besides, we have launched a number of campaigns for individuals and businesses, including our joint campaigns with Baku Electronics company – ‘Internet support to virtual education’, ‘3-fold speed’, ‘Don’t remain without Internet!’, ‘Internet support to small business’ and others.”
“Moreover, we have also shown the support and understanding toward our corporate clients during the period of tightened quarantine. In turn, all these actions gave us the opportunity not only to maintain, but also to expand our positions in the market," stressed the press office.
At present the company provides services for connecting to high-speed Internet networks with dedicated ADSL and FTTH communication channels. The scope of the provided Internet network has expanded, and now it (that’s the services of corporate and dedicated lines) covers the entire territory of the country.
