The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia has approved three grant projects for implementation in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to Dunyo news agency.
Following the selection of projects in the field of development assistance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia approved eight grant programs for implementation in the countries of the Eastern Partnership of the European Union and the priority states of Central Asia, totaling about $1 million, of which three projects will be implemented in Uzbekistan, backed by grants.
In particular, Latvian SunGIS technology company will create a prototype portal for publication and public discussion of the general plan of residential areas in Uzbekistan.
Also, 'Digital kick' project of the Latvian Start-up Technology Transfer Association will be implemented for the development of skills in the field of digital technologies among women in Uzbekistan.
In addition, Cleantech Latvia cluster of environmentally friendly technologies will implement a project on increasing the potential for the implementation of investment projects in the field of water use in the regions of Uzbekistan.
According to the Embassy, in 2020 SunGIS took part in the implementation in Uzbekistan of the project “Application of open technologies in the development of the “Electronic gene pool of engineering and technical measurements of the Republic of Uzbekistan” portal, which provides for the creation of a fully functioning version of the portal of topographic and geospatial data.
Moreover, Cleantech Latvia has successfully implemented the “Modernization of Municipal Utilities” project, aimed at increasing the efficiency and economic sustainability of the operation of public infrastructure in Uzbekistan.
