Iran eyes to triple its internet speed

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov. 25

Iran`s Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) seeks to increase the minimum mobile internet speed from 2 Mbps to 4.6 Mbps by the end of the next Iranian year (ends on March 21, 2023), the Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Technology Sadegh Abbasi said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

More than 12 percent of the country's population have access to fixed broadband Internet.

Abbasi emphasized that this figure should have been increased significantly, according to the plans of Supreme Council of Cyberspace of Iran.

He noted that the monitoring the quality of internet access, improving it, are among the main goals of Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA).
