BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Last week it became known that the market share of Azerbaijan’s Nar mobile operator was 23 percent, and the total number of its users amounted to 2.2 million following the results of 2021.

The number of 4G users in the districts of Azerbaijan increased by 12 percent in 2021, and this growth accounted for 33 percent in Baku. Some 1.4 million Nar subscribers are 4G network users.

Moreover, the Nar network covers 99 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory. Work on expanding the network in the districts, including in liberated lands, is currently underway. To date, Nar's mobile network has been installed in seven districts of Karabakh, Shusha, Aghdam, Fuzuli and others.

It also became known that Nar allocated 4.3 million manat ($2.5 million) for social projects and implemented 24 such projects in 2021.

In addition, the company expressed readiness to launch a 5G network should the need arise for it in the local market.

Also, last week it became known that the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) had developed a concept for cooperation in information technologies.

In 2020, Russia and Azerbaijan signed a document envisaging the cooperation in innovations and technologies, within which the technology companies could actively cooperate.

Furthermore, it was reported that Azerbaijan was among the TOP 25 countries in the world with the most acceptable monthly subscription fee for Broadband Internet Access (BIA). Thus, the average monthly cost of broadband access in Azerbaijan is $15, or 25.5 manat. According to this indicator, the country ranks 22nd among 220 countries of the world. The data was collected from January 19 to March 30, 2022.
