BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 9. About 814,000 households are provided with broadband Internet based on GPON technology in Azerbaijan, Trend reports via the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan.

According to the ministry, only in 2021-2022, 539,000 households were provided with access to uninterrupted Internet.

"The implementation of the Online Azerbaijan projects is proceeding rapidly. A fast and uninterrupted fiber-optic network based on GPON technology is being established. Currently, a total of 814,000 households are provided with fast and uninterrupted fiber-optic Internet via this technology," said the statement.

"We are aiming to cover the whole country with broadband Internet at a minimum speed of 25 Mbps by 2024. As a result of the joint efforts of several telecom operators based on the public-private partnership model, Aztelekom and Baktelecom, as part of the project, provide Internet services to the population at speeds up to 100 Mbps," the ministry added.
