BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 28. Providing the entire territory of Azerbaijan with broadband internet will lead to an increase in speed and an improvement in the country's position in the ratings by the end of 2024, Principal analyst at Ookla Sylwia Kechiche told Trend.
According to her, Azerbaijan ranks 116th among 180 countries with an average download speed of 29.47 Mbit/s in terms of fixed broadband internet connection, ahead of Georgia in the region (124 place).
"The government aims to close the broadband access productivity gap, considering the socio-economic development strategy of Azerbaijan, which includes providing broadband access to the entire territory of the country by the end of 2024," she added.
The speed of data transmission over mobile communications in Azerbaijan exceeds the indicators of the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus.
Azerbaijan ranked 59th in terms of transmission speed in the mobile network with an average download speed of 40.39 Mbit/s in June 2023, ahead of Kazakhstan (68th place), Georgia (74th place), Armenia (81st place), Kyrgyzstan (82nd place) and Uzbekistan (107th place).
