Azerbaijani banks hoist internet banking transactions

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 28. The volume of internet banking transactions in Azerbaijan grew last year, Trend reports.

As many as 363.6 million transactions worth 379.3 billion manat ($223.3 billion) from current bank accounts of customers were implemented in 2023.

The data from a review of payment systems of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan shows that 85.9 percent of the above transactions (312.2 million) amounting to 301.8 billion manat or $177.5 billion (79.6 percent of the total amount) were carried out via digital banking.

Besides, last year, the volume of customer transfers through internet banking increased by 12 percent - to 227.7 billion manat ($133.9 billion) compared to 2022, in total 21.2 million transfers were made (a decline of 14.5 percent).

Meanwhile, the amount of transactions through mobile banking grew by two times compared to 2022, reaching 46.2 billion manat ($27.18 billion).

As of January 1, 2024, all 23 banks operating in Azerbaijan provided internet banking services, while 20 – mobile banking services.
