Canon EOS-1D Mark III - The World's Fastest D-SLR

( mobilemag ) - The rumors have ended by Canon's release of the new flagship professional D-SLR, the EOS-1D Mark III. This beast is touting fame as the world's fastest camera, with a 10 frames per second burst rate; it can capture 100 megapixels of data in just one second.

The 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor is APS-D sized and has the widest ISO range to date, from ISO 50 to ISO 6400! Canon says this will be a real eye-opener for pro shooters. The LCD montior is also bumped up to 3.0-inches, and you can magnify "live" images up to 10x for fine tune focusing. That's right, I said live, the mirror locks up so you can view live, just like those point and shoots. A new dust management system is also in place, along with an additional 26 AF assist points to aid AF tracking for improved accuracy.

Canon has really done a number on us with this one, the price will be around the $4000 USD mark, and it can be purchased around April 2007. Check the full press release below for the rest of the details.
