Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / Increase of payments for communication services and structural changes initiated by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication and Informational Technologies was one of the subject matters at the recent meeting of the NGO Internet Forum of Azerbaijan.

The NGO considers switch to per-minute payment for telephone calls to be necessary but untimely.

"Introduction of per-minute payment can create difficulties for development of Internet," the NGO reported.

The population's opportunities for free choice in the field of communication services are not stable enough. Both the development of infrastructure and protection of the consumers' rights are necessary.

The use of nationalized internet domains (azer.net, xeber.az, and others), as well as the creation of a local Cisco academy at the NGO were discussed. New members of the Forum were appointed.
