Meeting of ECO Postal Authorities to be Held in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / The 4th meeting of ECO (Economic Co-operation Organization) Postal Authorities will be held in Baku in October.

The representatives of Azerpocht have already participated in the meeting of Postal Authorities held in November, 2005 in Teheran, and was attended by Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Turkey.

The first meeting of the Postal Authorities was held in the city of Cholponata , Kyrgyzstan in April of 2004. The member countries agreed to maintain co-operation in different directions of postal services through holding trainings, workshops and exhibitions, printing of common postage stamps, formation of expert working groups, exchange of data and skills in privatization policy.

ECO is an international regional organization formed in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey for the expansion of economic, industrial, and cultural co-operation. In 1992, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan joint the organization.
