Nearly 50-55.000 Computers Will be Supplied to Azerbaijani Schools This Year: Communications Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend Sh.Jaliloglu / On 15 June, supported by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan and Public Union 'Healthy Development and Enlightenment', a computer centre was opened for the internally displaced persons from Azerbaijan's city of Shusha at school No 19 in Shirvanli village of Azerbaijan's district of Barda. The center contains five computers connected to Internet. The opening ceremony was attended by the Department Chief of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, Rufat Gulammadov, Department Chief of the Education Ministry, Ismayl Sadigov, Deputy Chairman of Aztelekom Production Unit, Mehman Hasanov and others.

Gulammadov said that such measures will take place in many regions of Azerbaijan and are aimed at increasing intellectual level of the young people.

In addition, on 14 June the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, Ali Abbasov and MP Gultakin Hajiyeva participated in the opening ceremony of Heydar Aliyev Museum in Azerbaijan's Goranboy district.

Later, they visited a number of schools.

Abbasov said that this year, nearly 50-55.000 computers will be supplied to Azerbaijani schools and in 2008 Internet-connected computers will be provided to all schools.
