Azerbaijani Computer Plant Eager to Increase Sale

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Babayeva / The Azerbaijani computer plant KUR, specialized in manufacturing computers, plan to increase their volume of sale in 2007. Rizvan Osmanov, the Director General of KUR, said in an interview with local newspaper Respublika, that the sale will be raised through the expansion of the regional centers of the plant. Over the first quarter of 2007 eleven trading companies have been opened in within 9 cities in the country, and their numbers are expected to increase by the end of this year. Almost 30% of the computers will be sold through these outlets.

KUR has produced 4,350 computers in 2005 and 11,930 in 2006. Production has increased in 2006 by 2.7 times through corporate clients.

KUR functions as a joint venture between the Ministry of Communications and the local company Sinam, with a large portion of the share being held by the State.
