( Mobile ) - Not to be confused with the flagship Nikon D3 DSLR that was also announced at the same time, here is another digital SLR for all the shutterbugs in the audience to drool over. The Nikon D300 is being targeted at the prosumer market with its 12.3 megapixel DX format CMOS sensor, rugged body, and the picture quality you've come to expect from a name like Nikon.
It's not quite as speedy as its (much) more expensive D3 counterpart, but it can still handle 6fps burst, dialing that up to 8fps with the optional battery pack. The Nikon D300 also comes with HDMI support with 1080i playback, ISO 200-3200, live view, and the same 3-inch viewfinder as the Nikon D3. The D300 isn't quite a super professional camera, but it's a heck of a lot more powerful than the average point-and-shoot.
The Nikon D300 DSLR is expected to start shipping in November with a $1799 body-only price tag.
