( Mobile ) - It's speedy, it's compact, and it's getting storage by way of a solid state drive. The Sony VAIO TZ18GN is one of the smallest and thinnest laptops on the market with its 11.1-inch stature and funky rolled hinge. By going with a solid state drive (SSD) instead of a hard disk drive (HDD), this VAIO should be considerably faster, lighter, and more energy efficient.

Speaking of energy efficient, the Sony VAIO TZ18GN boasts 11.5 hours of battery life on a single charge. Interestingly, this is only about a half hour more power than its HDD-based counterpart. By going with SSD, you lose a lot of storage capacity. Instead of 100 gigs of hard drive loving, you only get 32 gigs of solid state-ness. Rounding out the features are an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 8x DVD-DL burner, 1GB of RAM (with an option of going to 2GB), and Windows Vista.

Barely nudging the scales at 1.15 kilograms, the SSD-based Sony VAIO TZ18GN is priced at $4,299.
