Almaty metro announces tender for purchase of electric trains

Almaty metro has announced a tender for the purchase of electric trains in the amount of 30 billion tenge, the message published July 16 on the Public Procurement Portal of the Republic of Kazakhstan says.
It is noted in the published tender announcement that, the planned amount of the lot is 29.5 billion tenge with three-year repayment in the amount of 8.8 billion tenge for the first year, 5.9 billion tenge - for the second year and 14.7 billion tenge - for the third year.
It is noted in the text of additional characteristics of the lot that, the train, in addition to moving along underground rail lines, should also have the ability to move up to the tracks of the metro stations that are located on the land surface.
"The subway electric train is designed for operation on underground lines, designed according to SNiP 32-02-2003 standard, with the ability to move up to the land surface along the tracks of electric engine house and staging in the storage and repair yard, as well as along the ground tracks of the second and third lines of the Almaty metro," the message says.
It is also noted that, the electric train should consist of four rail cars: two head motor rail cars with a driver's cabin and two intermediate motor rail cars.
The customer company noted that, the tender documentation is being discussed with potential suppliers currently. Preliminary deadline for acceptance of applications is August 1, 2018.
Earlier it was reported that, the development of Almaty metropolitan area until 2024 will require 293.9 billion tenge, in particular it has been planned to allocate 29 billion tenge from the national budget and 2.9 billion tenge from the local budget for the construction of the subway in Almaty. The project implementation period is 2018-2024.
The eight additional trains will be bought due to the increase in passenger traffic and the commissioning of two new stations in connection with the expansion of the metro until 2020.
