Ankara reveals number of Uzbek, Turkmen tourists in Turkey over past 3 years

Over the past three years (2015, 2016 and 2017), the number of Uzbek and Turkmen tourists who visited Turkey has exceeded 1.044 million people, according to the report of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB).

As many as 143,331 Uzbek tourists visited Turkey in 2015, 134,330 Uzbek tourists visited Turkey in 2016 and 195,745 Uzbek tourists visited Turkey in 2017, according to the report.

A total of 473,406 Uzbek tourists visited Turkey during the reporting period.

According to the report, the share of Uzbek citizens in the total number of tourists who visited Turkey was 0.4 percent in 2015, 0.53 percent in 2016, and 0.6 percent in 2017.

“This is while 174,330 Turkmen tourists visited Turkey in 2015, 165,762 Turkmen tourists visited Turkey in 2016 and 230,881 Turkmen tourists visited Turkey in 2017,” the report noted.

A total of 570,973 Turkmen tourists visited Turkey during the reporting period, the report said.

According to the report, the share of Turkmen citizens in the total number of tourists who visited Turkey was 0.48 percent in 2015, 0.65 percent in 2016, and 0.71 percent in 2017.

Turkey’s income from tourism grew 18.9 percent in 2017, as compared to 2016, and amounted to $26.283 billion, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute.

The message said that 77.4 percent of total tourism revenues accounted for foreign tourists, while 22.6 percent accounted for Turkish citizens residing abroad.

Turkey was visited by 32.4 million tourists in 2017, which is 27.84 percent more than in 2016.
