On Oct. 31 – Nov. 5, 2018, a Malaysian delegation headed by President of Salawak Islamic Council Misnu bin Haji Taha is on an official visit to Uzbekistan, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said in a statement.

The delegation consists of 23 people, including state religious authorities.

The Malaysian delegation is planning to hold meetings with the Muslims Office, the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Committee for Tourism Development and the Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan, as well as visit the Astronomical Institute and the Maidanak Observatory, which will allow guests to learn about the country's potential in the pilgrim tourism, Islamic cultural heritage ​​and the contribution of Uzbek scientists in the development of astronomy.

On Oct. 31 – Nov. 2, 2018, a Malaysian business delegation headed by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry had been on a visit to Uzbekistan.

On Nov. 1, 2018, an Uzbek-Malaysian business forum and B2B cooperation exchange was organized in Tashkent with the participation of businesses of the two countries.

In January-September 2018, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Malaysia amounted to $79.9 million, of which $2.27 million accounted for exports from Uzbekistan and $77.7 million for imports from Malaysia.
