Hungary and Azerbaijan are working hard to increase the tourist flow, Hungarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Viktor Szederkenyi told Trend.
He pointed out that the current level of relations between the two countries in the sphere of tourism does not yet reflect the existing potential.
„But we are working hard to increase the numbers. A cooperation agreement in the field of tourism was signed between Azerbaijan and Hungary in November 2014,” said the ambassador.
Szederkenyi said considering the convenient fact that Hungarian Wizz Air company has been implementing Baku-Budapest direct flights since 2016, the interest for mutual tourism is growing.
“We organized a large-scale touristic presentation of the Visegrad Group countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) in April of 2018 in Baku. With the aim of increasing the visa issue capacity, we opened a Hungarian Visa Center in Baku in 2016,” said the envoy.
He noted that Hungary can offer various types of leisure for those who choose the country.
“Apart from city tours and high-class SPA programs and hydropathic establishments, we offer unique programs. Budapest is one of the cultural centers of Europe. Throughout the year our country hosts festivals, cultural days, interesting fairs in different cities and regions. Tour-operators also offer so called combined tours as Budapest-Vienna. Now we can say that Hungary gives wide range of facilities in tourism at high quality for very competitive prices. We welcome all travelers – tourists, business people, students – who wish to come to our country,” said Szederkenyi.
Further, the envoy noted that Hungary has good contacts with professional organization, like AZTA and State Touristic Agency of Azerbaijan and the country is observing the implementation of Azerbaijan’s Tourism Strategy until 2023.
“This program provides a good framework for better international knowledge of Azerbaijan and it helps to improve the tourism sector in total, and expands the geography of the sector. I am glad that the number of Hungarian tourists visiting your beautiful country in the recent period is getting higher and higher,” he said.
